The Red Wings landed the 13th overall pick in the upcoming 2025 NHL Entry Draft and they're projected to go for offensive help with a key goal-scoring forward.

Detroit Red Wings general manager Steve Yzerman will be feeling more intensified pressure to make the moves necessary to get his franchise back to the postseason.
They've now missed in each of the last 9 years, which is the longest drought in franchise history. Considering that the Red Wings are soon set to celebrate their centennial season, that's a staggering thought.
The Red Wings also once again got zero fortunate luck in the 2025 NHL Draft Lottery, landing the 13th overall pick.
Yet again, they dropped back in the Draft Lottery; the New York Islanders, on the other hand, moved forward multiple spots and have the top overall pick.
Nothing can be done about it now, and Yzerman will be doing his due diligence to bring the next promising prospect to the organization.
Per Ted Kulfan of The Detroit News, Red Wings are projected to select the forward Justin Carbonneau of the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League.
Justin Carbonneau, RW, 6-foot-1, 191 pounds Blainville-Boisbriand (QMJHL) - There are several quality possibilities here, but Carbonneau is tantalizing because of his power game, elite shot and defensive ability. He had 46 goals and 43 assists in 62 games this past season.
His scouting report via Elite Prospects reads as follows:
Although he's not a power forward in the purest sense, he can hit, retrieve pucks, protect them, and drive them right to the cage. Operating away from the puck, Carbonneau displays a honed ability to create space for himself and receive pucks. Adapting his speed to stay in passing lanes, circling behind defenders, and popping in pockets at just the right time, he catches and rifles pucks easily past the goalie, his deep skating posture and puck control adding power and precision to his shot.
