Detroit Red Wings GM rips apart fans in recent interview

Detroit Red Wings GM Steve Yzerman's bold statement in a press conference with Coach Todd McLellan will reverberate throughout the original-six team's fandom afterwards.
In an stunning admission during the end-of-season conference, GM
Steve Yzerman plainly stated about the team's rebuild: "I don't care what you think".
In more words or less, when it came to answering a reporter, he'd be bold enough to suggest that losing ways were what fans wanted.
"You guys wanted a rebuild. You got it!"
Of course, fans wanted a rebuild, but instead are six-years deep into a team that has settled for a losing culture.
Yzerman, while advertising himself as a modern NHL GM, prefers to rule his roost with an iron fist in a velvet glove.
He prefers to keep conflict internal, which is understandable. But in the greater scheme of things, he's used the media to absolve himself of wrongdoing.
The former
Detroit Red Wings Captain has surrounded himself with people he can trust, and no outsiders. A situation that sounds eerily similar to a person who has surrounded himself with yes men.
It does make sense that he'd continue on his plans without including the fans in them, but the disdain is evident, especially when players like
Jake Walman come into the discussion.
The Yzerplan continues to forge it's path, though Yzerman's own cockiness may be his downfall, when the Illitch family does get tired of him.
For now, it doesn't seem that he's on the hot seat in
Detroit. Will there ever come a time when he will be, though?
Unlike Tampa Bay, no core he's built here has won a Stanley Cup or made it to the playoffs.
