Detroit Red Wings issue special announcement on team captain Dylan Larkin

The Detroit Red Wings organizaton has taken a moment to honor Dylan Larkin today with a special birthday statement across their social media.

Oddly enough, we are only 71 days away from the NHL's start of the regular season, which is also Dylan Larkin's jersey number.

Hockeytown fans flooded the comments with awesome and heartfelt birthday wishes towards the longtime Red Wings captain, who's been with the organization since being drafted 15th overall in 2014, have a look:

As with most good comes bad in todays day and age, and fans flooded the comments with feelings of displeasure towards Dylan Larkin:

One fan even suggested Larkin should take the opportunity to request a trade.

Larkin has showcased his speed and leadership since being named captain on January 13, 2021, but some certainly think otherwise.

The captain's times as of late have been plagued with injuries that may limit him to performing up to the standards held, and it shouldn't allow fans to rain on his birthday parade.

Larkin's off-ice charity work and time spent with youth hockey programs in the community reflects the organizations decision as to why he wears the C on his chest, and we certainly stand by it.
