Detroit Red Wings Legend Sergei Fedorov Gives Blunt Assessment of Steve Yzerman's Poor Job As General Manager

13-year long Detroit Red Wings legend Sergei Fedorov was recently.
In a recent interview with RG Sports' Sergey Demidov, former Red Wings forward Fedorov was asked about the current statement of Detroit's organization in the NHL.
The legend certainly gave a blunt opinion.
Demidov began to ask a series of questions, including hot topics like Alex Ovechkin and other current NHL Russian-born players, but then asked one on the current state of the Red Wings, which is led by general manager Steve Yzerman.
The reporter asked:
"How do you assess the state of the Detroit Red Wings? They haven't made the playoffs since 2016."
Fedorov answers:
"They seem stuck. They have a good coach, but no strong goalie tandem and not enough key players. It's a young team without veterans, and that makes the rebuild even harder. I don't see three or four strong, mobile defensemen there. Steve Yzerman is doing solid work through the draft, but it takes more than that. Their last right-shooting forward left for a bigger contract, and that didn't help either."
Fedorov clearly believes Yzerman needs to do much more, and fans would certainly agree.
Recent playoff hopes are over after their latest loss to the Canadiens.
The general manager of the Red Wings failed to acquire any support for an injury-prone roster at the NHL trade deadline, and it began to show moments after.
Falling out of a playoff spot in a blink of an eye, while his trade-deadline acquisition of Petr Mrazek sits in the press box each night due to an injury endured just a few games after returning to the Red Wings organization.
If a callout out from a legend such as Fedorov doesn't signal Yzerman to make changes this summer, who knows what really will.
