Arvid Holm has played the 2024-2025 season with Rogle BK in the SHL, and has caught GM Steve Yzerman's eye as they look to ink the goalie to a deal.

NHL Insider Cam Robinson reported that the Detroit Red Wings are interested in signing the Rogel goalie to a deal for the 2025-2026 season.
The 26-year-old has seen action in North America before, playing in the AHL with the Manitoba Moose before packing up and heading back home after the 2023-2024 which saw him end his American career with the ECHL's Utah Grizzlies.
Now, he could get another serious look in Detroit after a stellar performance with the SHL's Rogle, winning the Honken Trophy, with a .925 save percentage in 35 games.
His first run in the AHL saw him post less than remarkable numbers with 2.80 GAA and a .897 save percentage over 71 games in three seasons. Now he could find redemption in the NHL if the Red Wings add him to the roster.
Instead of giving him a qualifying offer, the Colorado Avalanche let him walk into free agency, and he'd return to Sweden to brush up his game and would sign with Rogle for three years, a smart move which saw him rebound.
He'd produce at an elite level in the SHL with 1.90 GAA and .925 save percentage, earning the Honken Trophy as the league's best goalie in 2024-2025.
For this deal to work, Holm's deal will have to have an NHL out clause, but fear not the NHL and SHL have a transfer agreement to move a deal along.
Should Holm pen a deal with the Red Wings, he'll serve an ancillary role with the Grand Rapids Griffins, as Sebastian Cossa's backup. Carter Gylander will remain in the ECHL with the Toledo Walleye.
If Holm does make it to the AHL, the Red Wings will be able to let players like Jack Campbell and Gage Alexander walk into free agency
Signing Arvid Holm would give the Red Wings the kind of dependability and flexibility in the crease they haven't had in a while. Yzerman should sign Holm to a contract that is team-friendly so it's a low-risk, high-reward situation for the team while ensuring continuity in the net.
