The Detroit Red Wings have made a major announcement, as the IIHF World Championships are concluding for Lucas Raymond, Erik Gustafsson, and Simon Edvinsson.

The Detroit Red Wings will have three fewer players in the IIHF World Championships after today.
The team announced that Sweden, has won a Bronze Medal in the IIHF World Championships. As Lucas Raymond, Erik Gustafsson, and Simon Edvinsson may not be coming away with the top prize but they were good enough to win something.
Sweden, ironically, has now won back-to-back Bronze Medals in 2024 and 2025.
Sweden won their second bronze in two years when they defeated their Nordic brethren, Denmark, 6-2. Sweden would secure their victory with three second-period goals as it defeated the IIHF underdogs, the Danes.
Lucas Raymond would contribute a goal to the team's victory, along with help from Mikael Backlund, Mika Zibanejad, Elias Lindholm, and Marcus Johansson.
"It's been an unreal experience, playing in front of your home country fans with family and friends in the stands," said Raymond. "It's been amazing. But obviously it's tough to look back and not feel disappointed. That's the reality. That's hockey, and we move on."

Team Sweden wouldn't back down from a good fight, as they outshot the Danes 37-18.
Raymond was a key part in the team's whopping 6-2 victory as he and William Nylander would do their best to bust the dam wide open, as they would shoot the puck with necessity but it'd fail to go in during the 1st-period.
But the second was when it all fell apart for Denmark and led to Raymond and company picking apart their Nordic Co-hosts.
"I think we came out in the second and started shooting a lot and got rewarded and started to create second opportunities as well," Raymond said. "Once we got that going, our game kind of just fell into place.

Lucas Raymond finished the IIHF World Championships with 11 points (5 goals, 6 assists). His Red Wings teammates, Erik Gustafsson, scored 7 points ( 7 assists) and would find himself a new home on the bench.
While Simon Edvinsson would score 1 point.
All a well-fought victory for Tre Kronor in 2025.
