The Detroit Red Wings have experienced an early setback to the 2025-26 season as a key defenseman, Simon Edvinsson, has suffered a very unexpected injury.

The Detroit Red Wings' training camp is kicking off on September 18, but a key face will be missing from the ice.
One of the most improved players throughout the past two seasons, Simon Edvinsson, has suffered yet another injury.
This is his fourth injury suffered; the 22-year-old defenseman has only played one full season in the NHL.

Simon Edvinsson week-to-week and is dealing with a lower body injury

During Steve Yzerman's interviews with the media prior to the Sept 18 training camp kickoff date, some big news was revealed to the media.
Defenseman Simon Edvinsson is at risk of not being able to start the regular season due to a lower-body injury.
Yzerman believes he'll be "ready to go" around the start of the regular season but sounded very uncertain, raising concerns.
Steve Yzerman said defenseman Simon Edvinsson is dealing with a lower body injury. He'll be out a couple of weeks, but will be ready to go «around the start of the regular season.»
With the 2025-26 season quickly approaching, we're truly crossing our fingers for a speedy recovery from Edvinsson, as he's quickly cemented his lineup role as a top-four defenseman for the organization.
