Red Wings Fall 2-1 to Senators, Extend Losing Streak to Six

The Detroit Red Wings dropped a tight 2-1 decision to the Ottawa Senators on Monday, caused by stellar goaltending from Linus Ullmark and a timely strike from ex-Wing David Perron.
Despite a strong start and relentless pressure, Detroit's penalty kill faltered, stretching their losing skid to six games.
Game Recap
Detroit (30-28-6) remains stalled at 66 points, a rut they've been in for two weeks, as they squared off against an Atlantic Division foe vying for the same wild card spot. The Wings peppered Ullmark with 49 shots-outshooting Ottawa 23-but only captain Dylan Larkin found the net.
«Red Wings played the best game they've played in weeks. 50+ shots, great defense all game, and they still lose. Unbelievable.»
His goal, a finish off a Lucas Raymond feed on the 39th attempt, tied it at 1-1 in the third. Alex DeBrincat led the barrage with 11 shots but couldn't crack Ullmark.
Ottawa seized control with two power-play goals.
Perron, who patrolled Detroit's roster the past two seasons, struck first at 7:39 of the second. Lurking near the blue line, he darted to the left circle, took a Claude Giroux pass, and wristed it past Cam Talbot. Later, with 5:04 left in the third, Moritz Seider's roughing penalty opened the door for Dylan Cozens-a recent Senators trade pickup-to one-time a feed into the net, sealing the 2-1 final.
A dramatic finish nearly salvaged a point. In the last second, Raymond appeared to score, sparking a brief celebration, but officials waved it off. Video review confirmed the puck crossed the line after the clock hit zero.
Key Moments and Performances
The Wings dominated early, exiting a tightly contested first period scoreless. Their penalty kill, however, proved costly, buckling twice.
Talbot started in net, with trade deadline addition Petr Mrazek backing him up.
Fellow newcomer Craig Smith debuted on the third line, adding depth. Ottawa's Perron, who once tallied 11 points in Detroit's final nine games last season-including a clutch Game 82 goal-haunted his old team. Detroit had eyed re-signing him but couldn't match Ottawa's two-year, $4 million annual offer
