The Detroit Red Wings have slimmed down their roster to 25 skaters on Friday, assigning three players to the American Hockey League's Grand Rapids Griffins.

As the NHL regular season nears kickoff on October 7, NHL organizations are slimming down their rosters in order to meet the league's legal maximum limit of 23 skaters.
The Red Wings kicked things off with a 6-player roster move on Wednesday, and continue to make large cuts following an announcement on October 3.
A press release on Friday revealed the following roster cuts for the Red Wings:
"The Detroit Red Wings today assigned forward Carter Mazur, defenseman William Wallinder and goaltender Michal Postava to the American Hockey League's Grand Rapids Griffins.

The Red Wings currently have 25 players on their preseason roster: 14 forwards, nine defensemen and two goaltenders. Currently 4-3-0 through seven preseason games, Detroit concludes its preseason slate with a home game against the Toronto Maple Leafs on Saturday, Oct. 4 at 7:00 p.m. at Little Caesars Arena."
