Detroit Red Wings send promising forward to Original Six rival in surprise trade proposal by NHL analyst

The Detroit Red Wings could take advantage of the Chicago Blackhawks' rebuild. For the Blackhawks, their prospect pool is one of the best in the league after three years of solid drafting by Kyle Davidson.

But there's a player in the lineup who could use a fresh start in Lukas Reichel, who has, for all intents and purposes, worn out his welcome in Chicago.

While the Blackhawks themselves are on the hunt for players who could make an impact down the road, Jonatan Berggren could be the solution for Steve Yzerman.

Heavy.com proposes a trade that involves two prospects who could use fresh starts in different organizations.

Reichel, a 17th overall pick in the 2020 NHL Draft, could build confidence in Grand Rapids with the Griffins. According to The Fourth Period's David Pagnotta, multiple NHL teams have inquired about Reichel.

It wouldn't be unreasonable to think the Red Wings are one.

While the Blackhawks could help revive Jonatan Berggren's career, a former 2nd-round pick in the 2018 NHL Draft. In 75 games, he's scored only 24 points (12-12) while given multiple opportunities to prove himself this year.

If the Blackhawks acquire Berggren, he could find himself in a new role that isn't in the bottom-six we've seen him own in Detroit.

This could be a case of Berggren finding a new home in the Windy City with no pressure and a chance to reignite chemistry with Tyler Bertuzzi.
