A recent report has recently confirmed that the Detroit Red Wings may have found their first off-season target.

Ryan Lindgren will become an unrestricted free agent on July 1 if the Colorado Avalanche do not re-sign him. The left-shot defenseman had a bit of a shaky 2024-25 season, but there should still be plenty of interest in him because he is a solid top-four shutdown blueliner when playing at his best.

NHLTR has deemed the Detroit Red Wings a prime landing spot for free agent defenseman

According to the report, the Red Wings' new target, defenseman Ryan Lindgren, would grant Detroit a solid second-pairing defenseman.
The 27-year old blue liner would be an upgrade over Ben Chiarot on their second pairing if Steve Yzerman can facilitate this.

The Red Wings could be another team to keep an eye on if Lindgren becomes a free agent this summer. The left side of their defense could use some work, and bringing in a player like Lindgren could help things on that front. He would offer them a potential upgrade over Ben Chiarot on their second pairing if signed.

While Yzerman and the Red Wings have a big off-season checklist list to complete, Lindgren could ultimately be a fast solution to defensive improvement heading into next season.
