The Detroit Red Wings organization has been linked to acquiring a $30M Pittsburgh Penguins forward.
As the Detroit Red Wings continue to pursue their re-build process this offseason, it is evident the organizations needs to add more offensive strength.
And recent insight has unveiled this Original Six franchise has been linked to trading for a sniper from the Pittsburgh Penguins.
NHL analyst links the Detroit Red Wings to the Pittsburgh Penguins' Rickard Rakell
An NHL analyst, Dan Kingerski from PittsburghHockeyNow has linked the Pittsburgh Penguins to trading their forward, Rickard Rakell to the Detroit Red Wings.
«Detroit general manager Steve Yzerman was frank regarding his team's needs: An impact top-six forward and a top-four defenseman,» Kingerski stated. «Detroit's competition for one of the eight Eastern Conference playoff spots has not gotten worse. So the responsibility is on GM Steve Yzerman to improve his Detroit roster. As the roster currently stands, 37-year-old James van Riemsdyk or 24-year-old Elmer Soderblom will be a top-six left wing.
«Neither would fill such a role on most teams, which only weakens the rest of the lineup. Rakell would make a perfect complement to either Dylan Larkin or sophomore center Marco Kasper. Perhaps no other team has more urgency or even necessity to get a deal done,» Kingerski added.

This being said, Rakell could offer the Red Wings a top-six winger, whilst adding some much-needed offense to Detroit's roster.
For some time now, Rakell's name has been looming in the rumor mill as of late, due to the fact the Penguins are seeing to rebuild, and the Detroit Red Wings have the prospects and draft picks to make this trade come to light.
Although it is uncertain whether or not general manager, Steve Yzerman, will bite the bullet on Rickard Rakell, it might be his best option for the organizations current standpoint.
