It used to be a destination for the top free agents in the league, given the amount of romanticism and the high standards held during GM Ken Holland's tenure (at the beginning of his career).

However, it appears GM Steve Yzerman has failed to create the conditions to make Little Caesar's Arena a draw other than NHLers who already love the franchise.

Thus, the story goes of Steve Yzerman, who may have tried to acquire multiple superstar forwards this year (Nikolaj Ehlers, Brock Boeser, and Sam Bennett). During a press conference, he'd make a case that these players already had an idea of where they wanted to go in July.
