Detroit Red Wings set to acquire 3x Stanley Cup Champion in his return to the NHL

The Red Wings have been linked to former Chicago Blackhawks captain and 3x Stanley Cup champion Jonathan Toews, who plans on returning to the NHL.
It looks as though former Chicago Blackhawks captain Jonathan Toews, who led the team to 3 Stanley Cup wins in 2010, 2013, and 2015, is on his way back to the NHL.
He won't return to the Blackhawks, who have turned that page on that chapter in team history and are now building around former 1st overall pick Connor Bedard. But there are a handful of teams who will be bidding to land him.
Are the Red Wings going to be one of those teams? Considering that they have his former Chicago teammates Patrick Kane, Alex DeBrincat, and Erik Gustafsson on the roster, it's not unfathomable.
At 37 years of age, there will be natural questions about whether Toews will still be able to be productive at the NHL level. He's not played since April 2023 thanks to symptoms from long COVID.
But he's adamant about still having the competitive fire and feeling like he still has something to offer.
I'm not satisfied the way things ended in Chicago. It's not about proving anything. It's just that there's something left in the tank and I want to explore that. I want to go have fun, have a blast, play with passion. But at the same time, I still have some high-level hockey left. I want to be able to step away from the game having said that I've given it my all. And I still think there's something left to give.
Toews has played in 1,067 games, all with the Blackhawks, and has 883 points (372G, 511A).
