The future of the Detroit Red Wings in the crease appears to be set for a long time, as the duo of
Sebastian Cossa and Trey Augustine is expected to be among the better combinations at some point.
But for now, Sebastian Cossa remains with the Grand Rapids Griffins in the American Hockey League. Trey Augustine has now made his choice for next year.
He's informed the Red Wings that he intends to return to Michigan State for 2025-26, meaning he'll be getting another year of experience at the college level.

Trey Augustine has informed the Detroit Red Wings that he will return to Michigan State for the 2025-26 season. Augustine was drafted in the second round by Detroit in 2023 and has been one of the top goaltenders in the NCAA over the last two years.
At only 19 years old, this is the right course of action for one of Detroit's prized young prospects who figures to play a major role in the organization.
Augustine has been
one of the top goaltenders in the NCAA and recently became the winningest goaltender in Team USA History at the IIHF World Junior Championships.
The Red Wings took him with the 41st overall pick in the 2023 NHL Entry Draft. He went 19-7-4 with a 2.08 GAA and a .924 SV% this year with the Spartans.
He was also named a finalist for the Mike Richter Award, given annually to the top goaltender in NCAA Division I men's hockey.
