The Anaheim Ducks announced that a veteran forward will make his season debut Thursday against the Detroit Red Wings, adding even more offensive depth to the team.
A tough challenge awaits the Red Wings tonight as they face the Anaheim Ducks, who are breaking out this year.
After a long rebuild, the Ducks have turned things around this season. They currently hold an 11-4-1 record and sit at the top of the Pacific Division.
As if they needed more help, the team announced that a veteran will return to the lineup tonight to face the Wings after a long-term injury.
Ducks Veteran Returns to the Lineup Tonight to Face the Wings
Ryan Strome was injured during training camp and was finally activated from the I.R. earlier this week.
Today, the team announced that he's ready to return to the lineup, joining Frank Vatrano and Mikael Granlund on the third line:
"You see the skill and speed that we play with and you kind of see the plays developing. I like to think of myself as a smart hockey mind, so hopefully I can take some of what I noticed and bring it into my game. You can't emulate a game situation, but I'll try to take all the things I worked on while I was out and all the watching I did."
Strome, 32, scored 10 goals and 31 assists last season with the Ducks. Over his career, he has played 864 regular-season games for the New York Islanders, Edmonton Oilers, New York Rangers, and Ducks, tallying 480 points, including 166 goals.
He has also competed in 37 playoff games, recording five goals and 14 assists.
