"Dutch Gretzky" Daniel Sprong signs $975K contract with Canucks
Daniel Sprong, also known as the "Dutch Gretzky," has signed a one-year, $975K contract with the Vancouver Canucks.
Originally drafted by the Pittsburgh Penguins in 2015, the 27-year-old winger has steadily established himself as a consistent offensive contributor in the NHL.
Sprong had his most productive season with the Seattle Kraken in 2022-23, scoring 21 goals and 25 assists for 46 points in 66 games. He followed up with 18 goals and 25 assists in 76 games for the Detroit Red Wings last season. Known for his efficiency, Sprong offers valuable depth scoring and power play prowess to the Canucks.
His nickname may not have caught on before, but it's time to embrace it as he aims to make a significant impact in Vancouver.
