Heartbreak strikes Red Wings' Patrick Kane ahead of hometown showdown on Wednesday in Buffalo

The Detroit Red Wings took to the ice against the Tampa Bay Lightning last Friday in a nail-biting game, where this Original Six franchise took the overtime, 2-1, win.

And while fans were ecstatic that the Wings won yet another game, unfortunate news revealed that star forward Patrick Kane had endured an upper-body injury that was caused by a brutal fall.

This injury ultimately left this veteran to be sidelined from the lineup Sunday against the Edmonton Oilers.

On Monday, Kane did in fact get on the ice, but he did not participate in practice, and new insight has revealed he is expected to be out of the lineup for another game.

This Tuesday, Patrick Kane's head coach, Todd McLellan, announced that this 36-year-old forward will be missing their upcoming road game in his hometown of Buffalo against the Sabres due to his injury.

McLellan also revealed that he will be reevaluated ahead of Saturday's game.
