The Detroit Red Wings game featured an emotional send-off for longtime broadcaster John Keating, who announced his retirement in January; his family and colleague Mickey Redmond were present during the tribute.

John Keating has been the voice of Detroit sports and announced his retirement at the end of the season on December 27th.
He'd make the difficult decision after speaking with his wife of 40 years, Linda. Keating would consult his bosses and children before finally deciding to call it a career.
And tonight, the Red Wings decided to give Keating the proper tribute after calling Red Wings and Tigers games for the past four decades.
His family and colleague Mickey Redmond were present during the tribute in which we saw him embrace his family, in a heartfelt moment caught on Little Caesar's jumbotron.
Fortunately for Keating, the tribute doesn't seem to end, as the Red Wings are currently up on the Carolina Hurricanes 4-2 at the end of the 2nd period.
What better way for Keating to end his career at the end of the year witnessing a victory against one of the NHL's best teams on home ice.
"I've had a terrific run. I don't know that I'm the face of anything. We have a great team of people, and the fact that I've been a part of it and seen the things I've seen, I wouldn't trade it for anything."

Keating was born in Madison Heights, but would move to West Michigan in order to pursue his broadcasting career starting at GVSU's student-run broadcast organization.
He'd move onto WZZR, which became WLHT.
Now, at the end of the regular NHL season, Keating will step away from the booth, leaving us in the mystery of who his replacement will be.
Congrats on your retirement, John Keating!
