Florida Panthers disciplined after being caught with illegal player on their bench against the Lightning
The Florida Panthers were caught with an illegal player on the ice and faced discipline during last night's heated game against the Tampa Bay Lightning.
The end of the NHL preseason is near, and it's safe to say it set the stage for an exciting regular season.
Many teams made strides over the summer and are ready to start the season on a high note.
Although the Panthers faced their share of adversity with injuries, they proved that they won't go down without a battle. Over 300 penalty minutes were distributed in the game, which finished 7-0 for the Panthers.
It was almost 8-0, but a peculiar event took place, and the eighth goal was overturned by the NHL.
NHL Makes Official Verdict After Panthers Caught With Ejected Player On The Ice
With just over five minutes left in the third period of the game, the Panthers already had a 7-0 lead.
At that point in the game, 13 game misconducts had been distributed between the two teams, but it appears a player who was ejected didn't realize it.
The Panthers scored an eighth goal, but it was canceled by the League, as Mikkola was on the ice when they scored.
The Battle of Florida promises to be entertaining this year. After all these years and playoff matchups, it's not surprising to see players take it out on the ice in the preseason.
The two teams will have to wait until November 15th to meet on the ice again.
