Former 13th overall pick reaches new career low following unexpected career decision
Former Detroit Red Wings forward and Washington Capitals' 13th overall pick in 2014 has reached a new career low following a very unexpected career decision made moments ago.
According to a report moments ago on
Jakub Vrana, he was unable to secure a NHL contract and will be taking his talents to Europe.
"Jakub Vrana tells puckempire that the reports out of Europe were false and he has not signed yet.
He is still in talks with Linkoping HC and there is a likelihood that he signs there, but it is not confirmed yet as he converses with other teams in Europe."
Vrana, a once promising prospect and top-six goalscorer with the Washington Capitals and Detroit Red Wings, hit a rough patch in his NHL career in the 2022 season when he entered the Players Assistance Program for an unidentified reason.
Jakub Vrana officially heading to Europe to further hockey career
While his club is currently not confirmed, it's expected to be announced in the coming days an official agreement with Linkoping HC, but he is still conversing with other European teams.
Lack of opportunities throughout NHL lineups alongside injuries contributed to his inconsistency in the league, and we hope he can find his groove in Europe.
Best of luck in the upcoming season, Jakub!
