Top remaining UFA has crucial decision to make between two Original Six teams: Friedman reveals the details
Free agent goal-scoring forward
Jack Roslovic remains the best unsigned player on the open market, and it's not due to a lack of interest.
According to a recent report from Sportsnet's insider Elliotte Friedman, he has several options at this moment five five reported teams currently pushing hard to reach a contract agreement with him. Roslovic is taking his time to evaluate his options, causing the hold up.
Roslovic signed a one-year, team friendly $2.8M deal for the 2024-25 season with the Carolina Hurricanes and delivered 22-goals, more than any other remaining free agent on the open market.
Despite matching his career high goal total this past season, his career has been very inconsistent with notable goal-scoring droughts.
With the salary cap rising, Friedman believes that Roslovic, alongside other free agents, is hesitant to ink new deals that could be "too much of a bargain".
«He's the best available player remaining. And, obviously, he hasn't found anything he 100 percent likes. But there are definitely a few teams poking around there. I've heard five or six teams. So, he needs to get to something he feels comfortable with,»
- Elliotte Friedman
The Red Wings aren't the only team interested in acquiring Roslovic, as Friedman has also revealed that the Toronto Maple Leafs are eying him as an affordable option.
UFA Jack Roslovic could provide goal-scoring depth for the Detroit Red Wings at afforable cost
As a two-time 20-goal scorer, and at 28 years of age, he can easily provide third-line production to the Red Wings under head coach Todd McLellan.
Throughout his 526 career games in the NHL, Roslovic has tallied up 260 points across stints with the Winnipeg Jets, New York Rangers, Columbus Blues Jackets, and Carolina Hurricanes.
Cam Robinson reports that his camp is seeking a 2-3 year deal with an AAV of just over $3M.
