Detroit Red Wings have announced a new hiring. Marty Hogan will be taking over the veteran scouting department after Kevin Gibson departed the organization.
With his exit from the role, now ascendant Marty Hogan will be in charge of scouting veteran players in the NHL.
Before he arrived in the Red Wings organization, he was a scout in the OHL for the Ottawa 67s. The 43-year-old held the position in Ottawa for the last three years and has a detailed resume in the field of scouting.
Junior League Scouting and his NHL Ascent
The team took took social media in order to wish him well on his journey to his new role in the NHL, with an original-six organization.
Before he joined the Ottawa 67s, he was previously employed by the Niagara IceDogs of the OHL and Mississauga Steelheads for one year.
His resume is extensive, as he recently held a position in Estonia for the U18 team as a video coach. In addition to his recent position in addition to the job with the 67s, he held a role working with the Lake Forest Foresters, in Lake Forest, Illinois, as an assistant coach. A Division III NCAA school.
It seems his NHL dreams have come true in a roundabout way. His hockey career started in 2000-01 as the Windsor, Ontario-born coach used to play for the Tecumseh Bulldogs in Junior B hockey.
