The Detroit Red Wings are said to still be in the mix for Dylan Cozens from the divisional foe Sabres, but there are a pair of reported untouchables the Red Wings have that they won't deal.
It appears that the
Detroit Red Wings remain in the mix for forward
Dylan Cozens of the divisional foe Buffalo Sabres, but there are reportedly a pair of players on the Red Wings besides the obvious franchise cornerstones that GM
Steve Yzerman will not include in any potential deal.
Per Ansar Khan of MLive, the Red Wings are unwilling to consider trading
Simon Edvinsson and
Marco Kasper as part of any potential deal to Buffalo for Cozens:
Both Edvinsson and Kasper are in their 1st year in the National Hockey League.
It wasn't long ago that former NHL goaltender and current analyst Kevin Weeks confirmed that the Red Wings were among the teams that were allegedly interested in Cozens.
In speaking to sources , I'm told there's been plenty of expressions of interest from clubs in @BuffaloSabres F Cozens including ; @CanadiensMTL @NHLFlames @MapleLeafs @DetroitRedWings . #SabreHood #HockeyX
Cozens has 27 points (11G, 26A) in 54 games for the floundering Sabres this year.
The Red Wings and Sabres haven't made a trade in nearly a quarter century
It's been quite a long time since the Detroit Red Wings and Buffalo Sabres made a trade with one another.
You'll have to go back to the final day of June 2001 when the Red Wings sent 2-time Stanley Cup winner Slava Kozlov to the Sabres and received Dominik Hasek in return.
Hasek then won 2 Stanley Cups with the Red Wings in 2002 and later in 2008.
