Despite his high draft selection and promising potential, Zadina never found his footing with the Detroit Red Wings. He failed to surpass the 25-point mark in any season. The relationship soured further when he requested his release from the team to explore new opportunities.
Now, at 25, Zadina hopes for a fresh start with the Buffalo Sabres, reportedly joining the team on a professional tryout (PTO) contract.
Before his NHL struggles, Zadina was a standout player with the Halifax Mooseheads, racking up 82 points (44 goals, 38 assists) in 57 games during the 2017-18 season. Those numbers justified his high draft selection, but his NHL career has yet to live up to the expectations that once surrounded him.
