Indeed, the former Wings legend Sergei Fedorov, who works on Buchelnikov's KHL team, likes the player.
Here's what he said in an interview earlier this year:
"Yeah, he's a goal scorer, definitely. He's one of those. He can make a play, too. Make a couple of passes. He's one of the top six here. Most of the time, they start the game with their line.
"So offensively, really no problem. He will probably get his 20 or 30 goals here, I hope, because he plays power play almost every game (and gets) three or four chances.
The hockey we play, it's men's hockey. It's responsible hockey. He's not thin, but he's certainly not very tall. Yeah, he's a small forward. Nicest guy ever. Very talented."
Unfortunately, the player is facing adversity.
Buchelnikov Gets Shoulder Surgery, Expected To Miss Several Months
According to a new report, Buchelnikov, who missed the past four games of his team due to an injury, had to get surgery earlier this week.
He is expected to be away from the ice until next February, at least.
