A bridge named after Red Wings legend Gordie Howe that will go from Canada to USA is near completion in Detroit.

In the 1950s, Howe was deemed the best player on the planet and was known by many.
Now, a 1.6-mile 'Gordie Howe Bridge', connecting Windsor to Detroit, is set to be opened in September, as it's 95% completed at this very moment.
The bridge can be seen off I-75, above the Clark Street overpass.
The Gordie Howe bridge plans to test its lights before its fall 2025 opening. The bridge is 95% finished with construction. #Detroit

The construction began seven years ago in 2018, but COVID delayed the project plans.
It stands at 722-feet tall.

"It wasn't cheating Father Time to play in the NHL in five decades, from his teens into his early 50s, skating at the end as a grandfather. Or the four Stanley Cup championships he won; his 23 NHL All-Star Game appearances; his six Hart Trophy and six Art Ross Trophy wins, as the NHL's most valuable player and top point-scorer, respectively; 22 consecutive NHL seasons of scoring at least 23 goals; or the many honors bestowed upon him, bridges and arenas and building named for him, the myriad records he set, or his endless string of personal milestones." NHL.com wrote

Howe is remembered as a Red Wings and NHL legend, playing all but one season in Motor City; the other came with the Hartford Whalers.
