Heartbreak struck multiple Detroit Red Wings players in Team Sweden's stunning loss to Team USA at the World Championship.

Detroit Red Wings players Lucas Raymond, Simon Edvinsson, and Erik Gustafsson met their fate with Team Sweden earlier today against Team USA at the World Championships with a disappointing 6-2 loss.
William Nylander and Elias Lindholm scored, but couldn't beat Shane Pinto, Brady Skjei, Jackson LaCombe, and the US, who have the opportunity to win its first gold medal since 1933.
The game-winning-goal scorer Conor Garland revealed how the US managed to win in an interview:
"We played well as a team, we had some guys play awesome, [Jeremy] Swayman was good in goal, Pinto was real good. We're just excited about the opportunity we've got. We're locked in, we're playing our game."

Team captain Clayton Keller provided similar insights:
"I liked our start. We were simple. We knew how we had to start the game and how we had to play. So I thought everyone chipped in and made an impact on the game today. We stuck to our game plan."

A tough loss for Team Sweden

The Swedes had the opportunity to clinch their ticket to the Finals in front of their fans, but fell short-one of the worst feelings for athletes.
Goalie Jacob Markström provided comments on his performance:
"It's disappointing that I couldn't play at a level that was needed. There were a couple of loose pucks I could've held on to. I have to be better in an important game like this-that would've given us a better chance to win."

After the game, Red Wings' Lucas Raymond was named among the best players for his team in the tournament, alongside Elias Lindholm and Jonas Brodin:
Raymond tallied 10 points, including four goals, in nine games.
Team Sweden will play tomorrow for the bronze medal against the loser of the game between Switzerland and Denmark, while the winner will face the US for the gold.
Stay tuned for more.
