John Gibson debuts new Red Wings Centennial season goalie setup

John Gibson wore the goalie setup of the Detroit Red Wings Centennial season uniform at team practice for the first time.
The Detroit Red Wings acquired John Gibson in a deal completed with the Anaheim Ducks during the offseason.
Expectations are high for the goalie, who was rumored to be asking for a trade out of the Ducks organization for years now.
In Detroit, the team especially wants to win to avoid extending its playoff drought to 10 years. With the franchise celebrating its Centennial season this year, pressure is high on players.
The organization scheduled plenty of events to celebrate the franchise's rich history.
Notably, the team will wear a special uniform for a few games during the season.
Today, the goalie John Gibson wore his new uniform for the first time, showcasing a brand-new goalie setup.

On X, Wings reporter Ansar Khan shared a picture of Gibson's old-school style pads, glove, and blocker.

Gibson, 32, should get to compete in a preseason game before the start of the regular calendar.
Fans are eager to see what kind of performances he'll pull off for the Wings. Last season, in 29 games, he had a 2.73 GAA and a .912 SV% with an 11-11-2 record.
The goalie is also hyped to make his Red Wings debut.

"You come here, it's really exciting. You have some of the highest skill players in the world, some really big guys on the team that can protect pucks and are hard in front of the net. It's about making sure everyone is on the same page and playing together."
