According to NHL insider Frank Servalli on B/R Open Ice, a substantial amount of progress has been made on the current ongoing contract dispute between Mason McTavish and the Anaheim Ducks.
It appears that the Anaheim Ducks and free agent Mason McTavish have came to terms on a term (length) of their soon to sign contract extension.
Seravalli reports that he believes the two sides have settled in on a legnth of a contract extension.
"The Ducks and the McTavish camp have been in conversation. I believe that they've settled on what would appear to be the term "part of this discussion," meaning they've focused in on a number of years.»

Next up is to settle the AAV (annaul salary) of this deal, which is reportedly a long-term deal.
I'm told it's not a short-term deal, but they remain pretty far apart. If it is at that term, what the AAV would look like on that deal. So they've gone around and around in circles."

Mason McTavish's contract extension update puts rumors involving the Detroit Red Wings to rest
As
recent reports have linked Detroit to the young 22-year-old forward, Red Wings fans can also be provided some relief.
A forward at that age with already several ongoing contract demand issues with his respective organization is the kind of player the Red Wings must avoid at all costs.
