Major announcement involving former Detroit Red Wings goaltender with his new team

Among the trades that Detroit Red Wings general manager Steve Yzerman made leading up to the Trade Deadline was sending goaltender Ville Husso to the Anaheim Ducks, bringing an end to that particular era in Detroit history.

Husso is now with the Ducks, who are fighting to qualify for the postseason; he joins a crowded crease that also includes Lukas Dostal and John Gibson, much in the same manner that he also was part of a department that included Alex Lyon and Cam Talbot in Detroit.

He recently made his Ducks debut and fell short despite making 36 saves on 39 shots. He also stood out considering that he was still wearing his Red Wings gear, as he's not had time to have new Ducks-coloured gear delivered to him.

Husso joins his 3rd NHL club after having previously played for the St. Louis Blues along with the Red Wings.

He was made expendable in Detroit not only thanks to the re-acquisition of Petr Mrazek, but also thats to his poor play that saw him get sent to the American Hockey League on more than one occasion this year.

He's in the last year of a 3-year contract that he signed with the Red Wings upon his acquisition from the Blues in 2022; his AAV (average annual value) is 4.75 million.

The loss against the Utah Hockey Club was the 6th of the year for Husso, who collected only a single win at the NHL level with Detroit this year; he's now 1-6-2 with a 3.62 GAA and a .876SV%.
