On Monday against the Los Angeles Kings, Shine appeared in his very 1st NHL game, and he's remained in the lineup as the Red Wings have embarked on a 4-game road trip.
Tonight against the Calgary Flames at Scotiabank Arena, Shine picked up a key career milestone. He now has his 1st NHL assist, picking up the helper on captain Dylan Larkin's 1st period goal:
Dominik Shine talked about his lifelong dream come true earlier in the week after being promoted by Red Wings
Shine was enjoying a strong year with the Griffins, scoring 32 points (11G, 21A) in 40 games before getting the call that he was being promoted to the Red Wings.
There was a point last year, I had my first child and the American League, you're away from your family a lot. I was thinking about maybe being done, and once I had my kid, I thought about it's really special for him to see me play and I'd play one more year and see what happens.
Shine said that his young son Cooper recognized him against the glass during the pre-game skate, making the experience all the more special for him.
To be here today, it's amazing. He recognized me in warmups. To see him smile, I can't put it into words.
