The Detroit Red Wings played the Chicago Blackhawks on Sunday, and Nate Danielson made his NHL debut, but unfortunately, it ended up in a 5-1 loss.
Right after this was posted, Emmit Finnie, another rookie, took a penalty, and then
Connor Bedard cashed in on the power play, making it 1-0 early.
Bedard has addressed in the past that Danielson was one of the toughest people he played against when he was with the Regina Pats of the WHL.
Danielson played for the Brandon Wheat Kings and was captain on the team for four seasons and then finished his WHL career on the Portland Winterhawks.
"Connor Bedard said that Nate Danielson was the toughest opponent he played against in the WHL.
Fitting that Danielson's NHL debut comes against Bedard today. #LGRW"
Nate Danielson makes NHL debut at 21-years-old
Danielson, 21 years old, was selected 9th overall in the 2023 draft by the Red Wings. Going into his draft year, he had 78 points in 68 games with the Wheat Kings.
Danielson took part in the World Juniors tournament with Team Canada last year and had three points in five games.
Danielson was shining in the AHL, as he had one goal and five points in four games with the Grand Rapids Griffins.
He went from scoring his first AHL goal a week and a half ago to playing in his first NHL game.
Danielson didn't put any points up on the scoresheet, but he didn't hurt the Red Wings, either, which is a good thing. That first point and goal will come for Danielson soon, as he is a talented young player.
Welcome to the show, Nate!
