The Detroit Red Wings and Steve Yzerman could have a plan formulated to acquire forward Jason Robertson and defenseman K'Andre Miller, what could they cost?

It's less than two weeks before the NHL Draft takes place, and trades are picking up. Teams are optimizing their roster and buying out talent that will find a new home elsewhere in July.
However, for the Red Wings, this postseason is important.
The Red Wings could weaponize their assets and draft capital in order to improve the roster in Detroit significantly. Though that would require Steve Yzerman to spend more than just cap space.
Hypothetically, what would a trade look like for two players who could make an impact in the Red Wings lineup, say for forward Jason Robertson of the Dallas Stars, and the Rangers' K'Andre Miller?
The Dallas Stars are in a precarious situation as a win-now team in the NHL. The Stars and GM Jim Nill won't be after help the Red Wings out by retaining Robertson's $7.75 million salary, which means later down the road, Yzerman may have to find a way to shed more as the postseason progresses.
So, taking that into account in the first place gives us a good context of how to look at this trade:
Detroit gets Robertson and RHD Matt Dumba; the Dallas Stars get the No. 13 pick in the 2025 draft, a 2026 second-round pick, and LW Elmer Söderblom.

While this seems like it'd be enough to get the trade done, which it does as they take on extra salary with Matt Dumba arriving in tow with Jason Robertson, it seems unlikely that Elmer Sodeblom would be the one the Stars would be after.
It'd give them $11.5 million in cap space to work with, while giving them a forward to develop, along with two draft picks to restock the pipeline with.
While parting with Elmer Soderblom would seem a great idea, the Stars would more than likely ask for Nate Danielson, according to Max Bultman. Keep in mind, Robertson is an elite forward in the NHL, and that doesn't come cheap.

K'Andre Miller

K'Andre Miller is a former 1st-rund draft pick of the New York Rangers, and after a 43-point season in 2022-23, he saw a decline in production. A symptom of the 2024-25 Rangers lineup.
Miller has plenty of upside and could be a solution on the left for the Red Wings' lineup as someone who can score and eat a ton of minutes per night. A trade for Miller would likely have to offer the same value as what the Rangers would receive in return for an offer sheet.
Detroit gets Miller; the New York Rangers get the No. 13 pick in the 2025 draft and Jonatan Berggren.

If someone offered Miller a contract with a range of $4.68 million to $7.02 million, it would be a first and third-round pick.
The 13th overall pick may and Jonatan Berggren may be expensive for Miller, but this is what it could look like if Yzerman wants to upgrade the blueline, as Miller could be someone who slots in next to Moritz Seider.

Nic Hague

The Detroit Red Wings have plenty of options on the blue line this postseason, and RFA Nic Hague could be one.
Hague is a former Stanley Cup champion and will be a cap casualty of the Golden Knights. The team is infamous for its manipulation of it cap due to LTIR and due to the fact that Kelly McCrimmon likes to spend to the peak.
Hague would be a viable defensive defenseman and would be a massive upgrade over multiple defenseman the Red Wings rostered this year.
Detroit gets Hague; the Vegas Golden Knights get Berggren and a 2026 second-round pick.

The Red Wings could negate an offer sheet and make extra cap room by trading Berggren, along with a 2nd-round pick, for Vegas to restock their depleted pipeline.
In a trade I'm not sure I even agree with, the Red Wings could trade for Connor Murphy. A reliable, punishing defensive defenseman from the Chicago Blackhawks.
Detroit gets Murphy; the Chicago Blackhawks get Justin Holl and a 2025 second-round pick.

The Red Wings could essentially use Justin Holl as a cap dump and would become the new TJ Brodie in the lineup. While the 2nd-round pick would be appreciated, Kyle Davidson would have to be convinced to make this happen.
While a trade could be in the works for Murphy soon, it's unlikely that he's moved to a team like the Red Wings, who aren't even a wildcard team at the moment.
