Patrick Kane addresses extension discussions with the Detroit Red Wings during season-exit interviews
Former three-time Stanley Cup champion and Detroit Red Wings forward Patrick Kane hopes he can return to Hockeytown for another season.
The Detroit Red Wings haven't had many bright spots this season. But "Showtime" aka
Patrick Kane is one of them.
In 2023-2024, Kane played a small sample size of games with the Red Wings, playing only 50 games and scoring 47 points (20 goals, 27 assists). This was the year he proved his worth to GM Steve Yzerman and the Red Wings
In 72 games played with the
Red Wings this season, he scored a total of 59 points (21 goals, 38 assists). This season with the Red Wings, he set a milestone, as he's played 1300 total games during his NHL career.
With the season winding down, negotiations of contracts begin between players and their teams, and for Kane, he's hopeful he is in the Detroit Red Wings' future.
Kane's one-year, $4.0 million contract with the Red Wings expires at the end of the season. His contract was loaded with $2.5 million in incentives, of which he was only able to achieve the conditions to capture $1.75 million of that, giving the Red Wings an overage to end the 2024-2025 season.
He's set himself up for a nice payday as he was able to notch another 20+ goal, 50+ point season in his career.
Better yet, if the team and Kane can come to terms soon, as Kane has been one of the Red Wings' best players in 2024-2025.
