Red Wings forward Patrick Kane discussed the team's adopted victory anthem and their chances of continuing their efforts in attaining a postseason spot.
It's going to be a fight to the finish for the Detroit Red Wings, who are battling a handful of other clubs for one of the pair of Wild Card playoff berths.
The Red Wings beat the Hurricanes at Little Ceasars Arena, but still have a long way to go if they are to end their playoff drought that is currently the longest in team history.
Before playing the Florida Panthers on Sunday afternoon, Red Wings forward Patrick Kane discussed what has become Detroit's
new rally song, "Still Alive" by Pearl Jam.
It's kind of fitting for the situation we're in and have been in for the last little while. There's nothing better than winning a game and hearing that song after and feeling good about the team getting a win. We're trying to find ways to stay alive, obviously we're four back right now, but we have Montreal on the Schedule so huge game tomorrow for us.
The Red Wings can continue to have a sporting chance at the postseason, but will need plenty of help from the outside. It would greatly benefit them if the Montreal Canadiens were to lose Saturday night's game against the Philadelphia Flyers to keep the margin close.
The Columbus Blue Jackets, who beat the Red Wings in back to back games (including the 2025 Stadium Series matchup at Ohio Stadium), are tied with Detroit at 77 points apiece, while the New York Rangers (who lost 4-0 to the divisional foe New Jersey Devils today) have 79 points.
If Montreal loses tonight against Philadelphia, and if Detroit defeats the Panthers tomorrow (they will be playing their 2nd game in 24 hours), it will become a 2-point margin.
Can Kane help lead the Red Wings to a 2nd straight victory on Sunday afternoon?
