If you're a Detroit Red Wings fan today, you should become a temporary Philadelphia Flyers fan in order to cheer on the Broad St. Bullies when they take on the Canadiens tonight.
The Philadelphia Flyers should do their original-six cousins a solid and defeat the Montreal Canadiens tonight.
The Montreal Canadiens have a record of 36-30-9, are 5th in the Atlantic Division, and hold the second wild-card spot in the East.
Tonight at 6 PM, one of the worst teams in the league, the Flyers, will need to take down the Canadiens, who are led by Nick Suzuki, who has scored a total of 80 points this season.
A tall task for the Flyers, who have just lost Coach John Tortorella, and at times, goaltending is a bit leaky. The story isn't any different than last year, where the Flyers needed to prevent the Capitals from scoring a point to enter the playoffs.
The Flyers would instead pull their goalie and let the Capitals lap the Red Wings in the standings. Now this year, Coach Brad Shaw should do the right thing, and keep the Red Wings four points from where the Habs are in the rankings.
To give you an idea of what needs to happen in the next two games:
If the Flyers down the Canadiens in regulation in Montreal tonight, and the Red Wings (with five points in their last three games) beat the Florida Panthers Sunday, then Tuesday's Red Wings vs. Canadiens' game in Montreal suddenly takes on a fresh importance.
The Red Wings will need to put on their game face against the always deadly Florida Panthers, who have added a treasure trove of talent recently, with Seth Jones and Brad Marchand.
Be on the lookout for a hopeful Flyers victory against the Habs tonight.
The game on Sunday between the Panthers and Red Wings is a must-win either way.
It's ok to cheer for the Flyers temporarily tonight.
