Rasmus Andersson says a final goodbye to his Calgary Flames teammates: Detroit-bound?
With the Calgary Flames focused on trading Rasmus Andersson, it appeared he said his final goodbye to teammates and his fans; can we expect him to be Detroit-bound soon?
After Saturday's face-off against the New York Islanders, Calgary Flames defenseman Rasmus Andersson appeared to say goodbye as trade rumors heated up.
Their 4-2 victory concluded, and afterward, he'd spend a brief period of time with his teammates. After embracing the boys in the victory line, he skated off the ice to return to the locker room.
Afterward, he'd be named the third star of the game. Andersson would come out to say goodbye to the Scotiabank Saddledome and the Flames' faithful fanbase. This may have been his final goodbye to those fans in the audience.
Calgary Flames' defenseman Rasmus Andersson's fate: Detroit-bound?
While a trade hasn't materialized, there have been ongoing discussions regarding the Flames defenseman's status with the organization.
The Red Wings were one prominent team in talks for the Swedish-born defenseman, and it appears that after a report by TSN's Darren Dreger, there are only four teams remaining in the sweepstakes for him.
If you remember, the Red Wings' trade offer could be good enough to entice Conroy, but there's skepticism about whether or not a deal can be finished.
Speculation leads us to believe nothing is final until it's final.
The top-pairing player scored 29 points (10-19) in 47 games as a Flames' defenseman and occupies a spot on the 2nd power play unit.
