Red Wings and Rangers trade pitch surfaces that would benefit both teams greatly
The New York Rangers and the Detroit Red Wings organizations were linked in an intriguing trade pitch that would benefit both teams.
Once again this season, the New York Rangers haven't been off to the start they were looking for. After 14 games, the Blueshirts are sitting at the last rank in the Metropolitan Division, with a 6-6-2 record.
Unless things turn around for the team, it wouldn't be surprising to see the general manager Chris Drury decide to make a few more moves.
Indeed, as we saw last season, Drury isn't afraid to complete big trades if things don't work out. The team has many players who could fetch important returns on the market.
Rangers And Red Wings Linked In Intriguing Proposal Involving Alexis Lafreniere
The first overall pick in 2020 hasn't exactly lived up to his full potential so far in the NHL. But after five years and 394 regular season games, some argue that a fresh start would benefit the player.
This season, in 14 games, he has scored only one goal, adding five assists for a mere tally of five points.
In my opinion, if the Rangers decide to trade Lafreniere, they won't be able to get such a big return. The player is currently in the first season of a seven-year deal valued at $7,450,000 AAV, and he definitely has a place in the team's long-term plans.
At 24 years old, Lafreniere still has what it takes to become a dominant player in the League. I think that if the Rangers decide to make some trades,
Artemi Panarin or
Mika Zibanejad are more likely to be the ones to be dealt.
