Detroit Red Wings defensive prospect Jacob Truscott's career has reached an all-time low, as he has been reassigned to the ECHL.
Jacob Truscott has been a fixture in the Red Wings organization as a prospect. The Port Huron, Michigan, native has been subject to unwelcome news lately, though.
The former Vancouver Canucks draft pick (144th overall in 2020) has played the majority of his professional career in the AHL with the Grand Rapids Griffins, after being captain of the Michigan Wolverines hockey team.
The former captain has found himself in abject territory, as
he'll be reassigned to
the ECHL's Toledo Walleye only after playing 2 games in the AHL with the Grand Rapids Griffins.
His career has hit an
all-time low, and it's just beginning.
The Detroit Red Wings Prospect Jacob Truscott will have to climb the ranks once again
Truscott began his career with the AHL's Grand Rapids Griffins on October 18th and would tally his first career point against the Manitoba Moose.
Though it doesn't sound like he's done much to warrant a demotion, we wonder what the reason could truly be.
"Through two games as a pro, the Port Huron, Michigan, native has one assist, zero penalty minutes and an even plus-minus rating. Truscott was the 144th overall pick by the Vancouver Canucks in the 2020 NHL Entry Draft."
Truscott served as the Michigan Wolverines' captain for five seasons in the NCAA before turning pro, where he'd score 70 points (12-58) in 166 games, with 119 penalty minutes and a plus 44 rating.
The Wolverines won the Big Ten Championship three times during his reign, in 2021, 2022, and 2023.
