The Detroit Red Wings have announced that Alexandre Giroux will be inducted into the AHL Hall of Fame in 2026.

The AHL has announced that former Grand Rapids Griffins forward Alexandre Giroux will be inducted into the AHL Hall of Fame during the 2026 All-Star game in Rockford, Illinois.

Giroux last played for the organization during the 2001-02 season, when he played 70 games for the Griffins and scored 27 points.
"The ceremony is scheduled for Feb. 11, 2026, with an induction class that also includes Chris Bourque, Jim Wiemer, and Wendell Young."

The year he made his professional debut with the Griffins was during the first and last season they'd be affiliated with the Ottawa Senators.
He was a former 213th overall pick by the Ottawa Senators in the 1999 NHL Draft and would only play a total of 48 games in the NHL, scoring 12 points (6-6), and suiting up for the New York Rangers, Washington Capitals, Edmonton Oilers, and Columbus Blue Jackets along the way.

When inducted, he'll join Michel Picard (96-00 & 2009-10), class of 2025; Bryan Helmer (2004-6), class of 2017; and Darren Haydar (2008-09), class of 2020, in the prestigious Hall.
The former Griffins winger played a total of 11 seasons in the AHL and has scored 368 goals during his career. He led the Hershey Bears to back-to-back Calder Cups in 2008-09 and 2009-10.
All the while, he won the scoring title in 2008-09 and the AHL MVP that season while winning the ultimate trophy in the AHL. Giroux scored 704 points in 771 contests split amongst AHL Binghamton, Grand Rapids, Hartford, Hershey, Oklahoma City, and Springfield.
He can now call himself a Hall of Famer.
