The New York Rangers will debut a forward in the lineup tonight against the Detroit Red Wings at Little Caesars Arena: Jaroslav Chmelar.
The Detroit Red Wings will have a new foe to look out for on the ice tonight in Little Caesars Arena, in addition to a hungry Rangers team.
According to a report from Mike Sullivan, the team will debut rookie forward Jaroslav Chmelar, who was originally a 144th overall pick in the 5th round of the 2021 NHL Draft.
The Czech-born rookie forward has played 87 games in the AHL with the Hartford Wolfpack and has scored 36 points (16-20).
Internationally, Chmelař represented Czech at the World Junior Hockey Championships in 2022 and 2023.
He'll be filling in on RW4, where forward Adam Edstrom usually plays when healthy. But since he's suffered bumps and bruises, the team has decided to take him out of the lineup to heal.
The New York Rangers Look to Improve Their Rankings Against the Detroit Red Wings
The New York Rangers will begin another game during their Centennial season with the intent of improving their standings in the Metropolitan Division.
The team is 6-6-2 and 5th, while proving to be a team that may have oversold their retool, as Chris Drury's moves have given the team a new captain and coach, but it's debatable about a winning edge.
Here's what we can expect from Chmela from lines.com:
Huge Czech right winger who played in Finland for Jokerit and has all the tools to eventually develop into a goal scoring power winger.
The blueline will have to be on extra precaution tonight against Chmelar.
