Reasons why Detroit would be Jason Robertson's ideal spot emerged after the Red Wings were linked to the Dallas Stars' young forward on the trade market.
A major development has just confirmed that Detroit would be the ideal fit for the 26-year-old goal scorer.
Jason Robertson has been involved in a lot of trade rumors since the offseason started. The forward is set to enter free agency next summer, making him eligible to sign a contract extension in Dallas as of now.
But with the Stars' recent acquisitions, the team would need to make several moves in order to afford keeping Robertson long-term.
The Stars are now paying Mikko Rantanen $12 million annually and will need to save money to afford extending Thomas Harley's contract next summer.
Multiple reports even suggested it would be easier to trade Robertson than sign him.
This is where the Detroit Red Wings enter the conversation.

With Robertson's future in Dallas compromised, Steve Yzerman and the Red Wings must go after him.
Yzerman has been very vocal about his intentions to bolster the team's top six, and a guy like Robertson isn't often available on the trade market.
To make it happen, Detroit could package two first-round picks and a prospect like Nate Danielson, although Yzerman would surely want to avoid parting ways with him, and Amadeus Lombard.
However, another big question mark remains: is Robertson willing to commit long-term to Detroit?
Yzerman has been reluctant to offer long-term contracts to free agents, but this could change if a superstar like Robertson is involved.
In 374 NHL games, the six-foot-three forward scored 394 points, including 168 goals, as well as 18 goals and 26 assists in 56 playoff games with the Dallas Stars.
The 26-year-old forward will enter the final year of his $7,750,000 AAV deal signed in 2022.
Across the NHL, fanbases hope to see their favorite team land Robertson, but in the end, only one will win the derby. Yzerman will need to be aggressive if he wants to bring him to Detroit.
