Signing alert: Edmonton Oilers steal a forward from the Detroit Red Wings in late free agency move

The Edmonton Oilers organization stole a forward from the Detroit Red Wings.
While most fans have been looking at what's been going on in the NHL over the recent weeks, a bunch of small moves occured recently in teams' affiliate clubs, in the AHL or ECHL.
Yesterday, a massive announcement was made which confirmed that the Oilers' ECHL team, the Fort Wayne Komets, acquired three players, including a Detroit Red Wings draft pick Kirill Tyutyayev.
You might know Tyutyayev from a viral moment, when he threw a chicken wing in the crowd, earning a game misconduct.

Last sesaon, the 24-year-old Russian wigner scored 23 points, including eight goals in 33 games. He also tallied three points, including two goals, in eight playoff games last season.
The forward also took part in 20 games in the VHL, in Russia, during the 2024-25 season, where he tallied four points, including two goals.
Head coach Jesse Kallechy shared official comments in the team's press release:
"With the additions today, we have added a lot of firepower. Magera and Hamaliuk both come with incredible resumes, and they will bring energy and skill that will make the guys around them even better. We are very excited also to bring Kirill back into the mix. He got a late start with us last season, so we are looking forward to seeing what he can do with a full season."
Despite limited success at the AHL level with the Grand Rapids Griffin, tallying eight points in 39 games, Tyutyayev can perform on both sides of the ice.
While Detroit may not have seen a future for Tyutyayev, he could help the Oilers win in the AHL or ECHL.
