Red Wings' Michael Rasmussen injured after dirty trip from Tampa's Nikita Kucherov on empty net goal
Tampa Bay Lightning forward Nikita Kucherov injured forward Michael Rasmussen when he tripped him on his way to scoring an empty net goal in tonight's win.
The Detroit Red Wings have now won 2-straight games over divisional foes, beating the Tampa Bay Lightning 2-0 tonight at Little Caesars Arena.
This came on the heels of a 4-2 win over the Montreal Canadiens on Thursday night.
Marco Kasper broke the scoreless tie in the second period by deflecting the puck past goaltender Andrei Vasilevskiy off the post and into the net, while Michael Rasmussen sealed the win with a gutsy empty net goal in the waning seconds of regulation.
But on the play, Rasmussen was tripped from behind by Tampa Bay's Nikita Kucherov; he crashed into the net, which came off its moorings.
Rasmussen was later seen requiring assistance to get down the tunnel toward the Red Wings dressing room.
