The Detroit Red Wings defenseman Moritz Seider's status has been updated to confirmed ahead of the game against the Washington Capitals on Saturday

On Saturday, December 20th, against the Washington Capitals, the Detroit Red Wings will begin the gauntlet against top-level NHL teams, including the Dallas Stars.
The Red Wings will need all the help they can get against Spencer Carbery's team, which is 2nd in the Metropolitan Division. With Alex Ovechkin and goaltender Logan Thompson to compete against, it's an all-hands-on-deck situation.
Fortunately for the Red Wings, they'll have defenseman Moritz Seider in the lineup on Saturday. This came after speculation of injury after he missed Red Wings practice on Friday.
There was concern regarding a major development at Red Wings practice for Moritz Seider, who hasn't missed a game since 2021-22. Seider showed up to practice today for a maintenance day wearing street clothes.
It left us unsure whether or not Seider would be able to show up and play against one of the Capitals this weekend. Fortunately, he will draw into the lineup.

Detroit Red Wings defenseman Moritz Seider's 2025-26 season

This season, Seider has been contributing at both ends of the ice, and his impact has been measured offensively: he's scored 24 points (4-20) in 35 games.
The former 6th overall pick in 2019 has been the anchor on defense for one of the best teams in the Atlantic Division this year and has earned every penny of his $8.55 million cap.
We can put to rest the rumors about Seider's ill health, as there's no truth to the rumors, as Todd McLellan confirmed that he was taking a maintenance day.
As for one of the hardest-working Red Wings players, the guy has earned it. Seider completed a milestone against the Columbus Blue Jackets at the beginning of December, where he scored the 200th point of his career.
We're certain he's destined for greater things.
