Red Wings prospect continues his heater of a streak

There's a rich history of Swedish talent in the Detroit Red Wings organization. The team has had a lot of success by drafting players from Sweden, such as franchise legends Nicklas Lidstrom and Henrik Zetterberg.

In recent years, Steve Yzerman has often drafted Swedish players, building on that nation's legacy within the Wings organization.

One of those players, currently playing with Timra IK, is on a heater.

During the second round of the 2025 NHL Draft, the Detroit Red Wings decided to select Eddie Genborg with the 44th overall pick.

The 18-year-old, six-foot-one right winger has been performing well so far since becoming a member of the Wings organization.

In 15 games so far with Timra IK, the young forward has scored six goals and three assists, the third-best point total on his team, which is impressive as he's also notably the youngest player on the team.

Only Jonathan Dahlen, 27, and Emil Pettersson, 31, with 14 and 10 points respectively, are ahead of him in the scoring rankings.

Recently, he's been bringing a lot of offensive production to the team but is also entrusted with crucial moments where defense is key.

In his last game, the forward was on the ice as the team looked to tie the game in the third period. Although he scored a goal, the team lost the game. Few young players are usually on the ice in desperate pushes to tie the game.

Red Wings fans should be able to see Genborg in action for Sweden at this year's World Junior Championships, as he has clearly emerged as one of the best NHL prospects in the country.
