Red Wings' Rival Brendan Gallagher Experiences Tragedy in Passing of Mother Della

On Thursday morning, Montreal Canadiens forward Brendan Gallagher shared heartbreaking news with his fans through an emotional Instagram post, announcing the passing of his mother, Della Gallagher.
Along with his message, Gallagher shared emotional photos of him and his mom. In his post, he wrote:
"You were the best mom we could have ever asked for! I'm so grateful for all the wonderful memories we created together. I'll always hold them close to my heart. Every day, I'll wish I could call you, give you a big hug, and tell you I love you. We'll keep living out everything you taught us, making you proud every single day. Rest in peace, mom. I love you. I miss you."
Emma Fortin, Gallagher's wife, left a touching comment on his post, saying:
"The best mom, grandma, and mother-in-law. You'll forever be in our hearts. Love you."
After scoring on Tuesday night, Gallagher tapped his chest with his hand in a heartfelt gesture.
On the Canadiens' official video of the goal, Gallagher commented, «For mom.»
Della had been diagnosed with glioblastoma, a very aggressive form of brain cancer , nearly four years ago.
Earlier this month, Gallagher and Fortin welcomed their first child, bringing some comfort in knowing Della was able to meet her grandchild before her passing.
