Former Detroit Red Wings forward Sergei Fedorov is helping Daniel Sprong acclimate to the KHL, as Sprong will suit up for CSKA Moscow this season.

Sergei Fedorov is a legend in Hockeytown. Three Stanley Cup championships, and a member of the Russian Five.
His career would end in 2011-12 after he finished playing in the KHL with the Magnitogorsk Metallurg. He's won one Gagarin Cup with CSKA Moscow as Head Coach.
Ironically, former Red Wing Daniel Sprong has joined the squad in an attempt to revitalize his career. But as a first-timer in Russia, he'll have to find a way to acclimate to the new surroundings.
And former Red Wings forward Fedorov has been there to help him along.
«There is no point in explaining about the league, because a certain adaptation process needs to be completed,» Fedorov told Russian website Sport-Express. «We are solving technical and hockey issues that relate to his game and the game of the entire team.

«For now, he plays with both foreigners and Russian players. The adaptation process has begun.»

Daniel Sprong Will Wear Sergei Feredorov's #91 With Pride

This year, he'll be wearing Sergei Fedorov's former number #91. For Sprong, who has deep admiration for the Russian superstar, he will cherish the little bit of largesse shown to him by Fedorov this year.
First, by lending him his number and taking on a mentorship role to improve his game:
«He was an incredible player, one of the best in the world,» Sprong said. «He is one of the best Russian players in history.»

Sprong has been considered one of the NHL's most efficient forwards when it comes to goal-scoring. He's had back-to-back 40+ point seasons in the NHL until he floundered out in Vancouver.
But his has been there to help him along' class='lien_marqueur' target='_blank' rel='noopener'>terrible defensive game has left him open to criticism and led to him becoming a perpetual free agent his entire career.
Maybe sometime in the KHL could help top-up his defensive game, as that is truly what was lacking.
Can Sergei Fedorov help him find his backcheck?
