Steve Yzerman makes a great promise to the Detroit Red Wings fan base: The NHL must be aware
The Detroit Red Wings fans need to hold Steve Yzerman accountable, who has made a promise to keep the team "progressing" instead of returning a playoff team to Little Caesars Arena.
The Detroit Red Wings fans are expecting a return to the playoffs in 2025-26.
However, it seems that Steve Yzerman isn't promising that.
Instead, the Red Wings general manager has promised something else entirely, which could be considered a disappointment.
"Progress" is what he's promising.
«I see progress in the organization,» Yzerman said. «I look at the young players coming into the organization, and I look at the young players playing on the Detroit Red Wings today.
«As we continue to build a young core that is here for a long time, I'm hopeful that we will eventually compete on a regular basis to make the playoffs.
«So that's what we're trying to do.»
What is progress to a Red Wings fan who hasn't seen the team compete since 2016?
Six of those have been with Steve Yzerman at the helm, who, unfortunately, hasn't been able to build a team that can compete in the NHL.
He's been in charge of the Red Wings for 455 games, with a record of 183-220-52 and 418 points per
NHL.com records.
Not to mention his mediocre signings and trades, he's delivered a subpar product on the ice, and at this point,
he can't blame Ken Holland anymore.
Is the
promise of progress enough to keep you enthralled enough to keep track of the Red Wings this season?
